Welcome and thank you for stopping by.

Here, you’ll find a sample of my documentary-style work, much of it with a focus on conservation and causes supporting marginalized communities around the world.

New Hope for Amputees in Mongolia

2018

I made this project on behalf of the Ed Nef Foundation, (the epilogue fundraising piece was filmed and added later by the foundation). Our goal was to help raise $80,000 to develop a resource for modern prosthetics in Mongolia. I’m thrilled to say that the project was a success and is still running today. Javkhaa, one of the young women who received a new prosthetic leg in this film, just won her first medal for archery at the 2022 World Archery Para Championships.

HearthSong Heroes

2015

Meet high school kids, Jimmy, Badham, Mary Kate, and Rachel. They’re recipients of the HearthSong Heroes award for developing social programs to help children. The goal for this project was to inspire other kids to start their own projects.

Toys that Spark Imagination

2016

HearthSong wanted to distinguish itself as a toy brand that encourages active, imaginative play. My goal was to show kids as they engage with the products. Through careful listening, observation, and interviews I was able to deliver what the company was looking for.

Saving the Tsaatan Lanugage

2015

Filmed in the Mongolian Taiga and also the capital city, Ulaanbaatar, this short was designed to raise awareness for a new program to teach Tsaatan children their traditional language. 2 schools were set up in teepees. This was yet a solo run and gun job that required wearing many hats. (I didn’t edit this one). The project was aired on national television in Mongolia.

Braided Rugs from Rhody

2014

During my time with Plow & Hearth I filmed a lot of products. The videos were designed to enhance catalog releases and support he sale of featured products. In this case we went to Rhody Rugs in Providence Rhode Island. I directed, filmed and edited this piece.

Willow

2013

Willie DE asked me if I would make a music video for this song and the launch of his new album. I took the abstract idea of connection to friends and home and how a place can cast a spell on us. I directed, shot this with support from my friend Clarence Green. I edited this as well and even made the fairy wings.

Everything was borrowed or acquired guerrilla-style. The streets, fields, and woods were our sets. The project was planned but whatever looked interesting became part of the piece.

A Mission To Save the Elephants

2015

I was asked to do a series of short web videos for The Elephant Story to cover an elephant polo tournament and fundraiser to support the mahouts and the elephants in Moo Baan Chang, Thailand. Elephants are under pressure with free land becoming scarce along with their traditional work. They need our support and so do those who care for them.

The Ticket

2005-2009

2 sequences from the feature documentary:

A handful of lottery winners discover the challenges of becoming instant millionaires. The film reveals the highs and lows of what it means to win big money in America.

When I was working with Kevin Macdonald on his documentary, One Day in September, he encouraged me to learn by making my own documentary so that’s what I did. He was right. I learned a lot! SD video.
